July 7th, 2011 was then. Peacekeepers came across an unidentified carnivorous species living in a small village in Northern Africa while looking into reports of illegal weapons trafficking. These ferocious creatures were resistant to conventional attack and easily provoked. In the area that is now known as “Ground:,” eight specimens were discovered. ALPHA… Only four were successfully contained for the purpose of research. The attack’s victims were quarantined at a nearby research facility. Similar to the symptoms of other flesh-eating viruses native to that region, these victims displayed signs of internal liquefaction and accelerated necrosis. However, there was no viral outbreak. It was an infestation of parasites. Under the skin of the Ground, a new species of hookworm was discovered: Exemplars of Alpha We refer to these parasites as “Alpha-worms” because they incubate their hosts with dozens of eggs, which in turn produce numerous larvae. These larvae entered the bloodstream and caused numerous genetic defects. However, unlike the majority of genetic failures, these symptoms did not result in death. Infested victims, on the other hand, were larger, more powerful, and driven by hunger. Using the information gathered on the ground: A special group of people were assembled for the ALPHA specimens. Over the following few years, sporadic outbreaks occurred, but the elite squad quickly contained them. Which brings us to the situation that exists right now in Tokyo…
