Akihabara. ” Akiba,” abbreviated. From Japan’s postwar reconstruction to the 1980s economic bubblegum crisis, this suburban Tokyo ward has seen it all. Continuously on the front line of progress, with an unexpected surprise to offer even the most fetishistic of hungers, it was practically inescapable that this solitary technocracy of guilty pleasure would bring forth an entirely different sort of craving out and out. The town’s unsuspecting figurine hunters, maid café connoisseurs, and cosplayers are preyed upon by the “Synthisters,” vampires. Due to their newfound fatal aversion to sunlight, Synthisters’ victims adopt the characteristics of their attackers while also withdrawing from society and becoming veritable shut-ins. AKIBA’S Outing recounts the tale of one such lamentable soul: a young fellow named Nanashi who was tricked into a snare by the commitment of interesting person merchandise and changed into one of the strolling undead. He, notwithstanding, was saved the most terrible of his destiny by the horrendous kiss of a puzzling Synthister tracker named Shizuku. Along with his other buddies in an association informally named the “Akiba Political dissidents,” Nanashi and Shizuku should uncover reality behind the Synthister plague and save Akiba from being overwhelmed by rough, solitary energy vampires.
